a ride through Riverside Park today… Central Park…across Harlem on 125th street…grooving on the picaruesque quality of the light learned so many years ago in John Conron’s class…Federick Law Olmstead dug it…so did Melville and Steinbeck…they both used it go great effect in Moby Dick and Grapes of Wrath…bodies shuffliing…moving…melt into the anonymous dream…gotta keep on moving and don’t look back…turn to sand if you do…splay of building and hip hop beat…train the eye to keep seeing and the mind will follow…

People’s Body Language…

May 24, 2008

back in the city in warm May sunshine…endorphin explosion from pumping legs down to my familiar haunt on the Hudson bike path…paused to smoke a cigarette and take snapshots of the passers by. The light was reflecting in glorious illumination off the water creating a natural lighting kit. The past year I spent mainly taking photographs of the woods behind my parents house attempting to achieve a Hudson River school with the emphasis on chairoscuro and the changing nature of light…I did 20,000 pictures into the insanity drinking many a 12 pack of cheapies to keep myself present in the moment through hot summer tongue to the icy chill of winter’s lick. This next year my intention is to study of character and yesterday I began the process fading into the step and slyly taking snapshots of passer’s by unawares…

West Village Scene…

West Village Scene…cobblestone streets…girls, with tight excitable pussies getting off work looking for cute guys…walking around with heavy camera equipment….drove down with Leo Hopi…talking about niche markets…youtful rebellion now gone…Dead Rock West….singing great songs…filled with soul…talked to them afterwords…Cindy is very sweet…Frankie down to earth…lost Leo Hopi for awhile…found him and smoked some weed…back into the magic….a drive by back to my parents house…deep conversations along side the Hudson…now the clock rings eight times in the dining room…it had been almost three weeks…I don’t know how to wound the clock so after a couple of days it just stopped ringing….didn’t matter to me…I had stepped outside of time anyway…it was time to write myself into the movie…
