Yoga in the Plains…

January 12, 2010

Yoga in the plains…cold wind swept days…stark bright winter light…on the drive the kensico iced over looking so beautiful reflecting contrast from deep autumn and hot summer…Larissa was the teacher tioday…mechanical but thorough…had breakfast with the Raj…saw some lady who asked me about Diann…so it goes in the moment…

Power Yoga…

January 9, 2010

Power Yoga tonight down in Dobbs Ferry…I forgot my gymn shorts but I so badly needed to do the class I did it in my ski underwear…no one seemed to mind…they did look like sweats so I got by…I really need to do the class…I had been in my head big time the last couple of days producing a new videopoem so I had been staring into the diode for so long and it had burnt me out…that in living in this america…corporate soulless america…hannity’s america..hateful america…since I am trying not to abuse alcohol yoga is my recourse to escape the blues…it worked…and the lesson Sinda, the instructor of this class had to bestow was to be aware all through the asana…

Even if that’s all that you do..

Even if that’s all that you do…that stuck in my head…the teacher said that…she was saying even if all you do is just come to class and only breathe you still would have accomplished something because you would have given yourself that time…it works for me even though I was completely involved in the class, which is a power one, so it’s not for wimps or anyone who wants to take it easy….I had been mixing video all day and I was psyched to hit class…yoga is a natural way to release…it was at the club down in Dobbs Ferry which is a short drive down the Saw Mill…

Power yoga..

December 4, 2009

Today’s class was power yoga with Sinda down at Dobbs Ferry. It was the second time I was down at the club. I had been down earlier because I had a lot of time to kill because I had tape to download at the studio up at Greeley. It was a back and forth on the Saw Mill, a highway although pretty and scenic I really don’t like to driveon because it always has a lot of heat. Today was no exception. So the class was tough. Sinda is a very thorough teacher. A few students left because they weren’t up for it. Her lesson for the day was about how we sent intentions for ourselves…

Yoga today…

December 1, 2009

I’ve been on a real roll…made yoga for the third straight day…I had been up all night working on the web and got hardly any sleep…it was either be brain dead or plunge right on ahead…so I went for it…and it had the desired effect…I like Sinda’s style as she has a joking manner and a flowing mannerism….additionally I handed a show in White Plains…so I kept that going…I refuse to become passive in the american dream…

yoga and the need for reinvention…

December 1, 2009

made yoga today…the class at 7:30 in hawthorne…this was right after a pilates class…I had felt the dread coming on and to deal with it in a natural way I hit the gymn…drinking just hasn’t been doing it…I went that way on Saturday and my camera got smashed although before it did I was did get a lot of pictures…yesterday itw as yoga at noon in White Plains…another calming effect after a night of drinking…

right now the videopoem is on in the qua at 2:30 am in the morning…califone with diann, a yoga teacher on at the end…the need to keep going with reinvetion…it’s tough when not part of a community that explores life this way..so much lip service around…fast paced life and the holy worship of the dollar…dont’ let anyone tell you different…devout christians spouting about money lenders are the worse…

still here, underneath the pale light like it always has been the words splash real…corporate society can’t take that away from me…my so called freinds rejection of me can’t take that away either…it’s mind and it comes from a deep space within me…

Yoga today in the moment…

I made yoga today despite ugly weather conditions out there today. I didn’t want to take the easy way out and vegetate in front of the television set. The young woman, Christina, who used to teach the class has been replaced by Sinda who also took over from Diann when she declined to get certified. I like Sinda as a teacher. I loved the other two. Every teacher’s style is different. They bring in their own unique talents and energy. Nothing can be taken for granted. Life is always in constant change. The lesson from Sinda today was to focus the inner light. I took it to heart and after class have been working on various forms of my craft. In my ongoing study of seeing, I have posted pictures and videos seperated by two years also concentrated on this day in October.

Here is a study from two years ago to the day with some pictures of today mixed in…

I had time as usual waiting for the train to come so I pulled out the Flip and recorded a few moments of video today. It helps pass the time on the platform especially admist the tuned out fellow passengers spacing out on their cellphones as we live in a nation digital zombies, myself included.

Complaints….

September 10, 2009

Greeley's Dam
I came into yoga class tonight a little late. The reason I was late was because I had to delay putting the money into the ticket machine. This is the only club you have to do this at and they are real nazi’s about it, Thirty seconds late and they will slam you with a fine. So I waited a bit. I was only doing yoga tonight so I didn’t want to spend the money for another hour. When I came into class the instructor Sylvia asked me to be quiet. She said people had been complaining about the mats. Now I found that interesting. Being that this yoga class is in a sports gym I don’t complain when most of the people in the class are not on a high level. Who am I to judge but I could make that complaint and that’s my point. Yoga is about letting go and these peoplle get uptight about the sound of a mat dropping. Now that blows my mind…

Food and Yoga

July 12, 2009

yoga posture
Listening to a scholar talk about how our appetites have been hijacked by the food industry. He is explaining how they condition and drive our behavior….learning and motivational cycles…increases the reward of the food…bought on by fat, sugar and salt….the business of craving…make it available twenty four seven…as if I need to here this at this time at this moment but somehow it fits…I’m craving a drink….I’ll tell you that…but it’s not available right now…and you were wondering how that fits into the yoga rap?…I hadn’t been to yoga since last Tuesday…since Wednesday I had been raging down in the city…I knew today was the day to get back to the yoga class and so I did…it was Christina’s class….I always find her good for me to get back into the groove…she’s establishes a soothing pace to her class and although rigorous not insanely tough…I was so bumped up after the class that I eventually went for a ride along the Kensico Resiorvoir….there was an insane picuresque light show going on and many times during the ride I pulled over to take pictures….it all seemed to fit into the spiritual nature of yoga and the need for self discipline and stopping the craving…
